Stat. § 99.053","heading":"Appointment of additional housing commissioner authorized where necessary to comply with federal law.","body":"1. Notwithstanding any provision of section 99.050 to the contrary regarding the number of housing commissioners, in any political subdivision except those described in subsection 2 of this section, a sixth housing commissioner may be appointed. Such a commissioner may be appointed, in the same manner as other appointees pursuant to section 99.050, if the housing authority determines that such a commissioner is needed to fulfill any federal requirement stating that at least one person who receives direct assistance from the housing authority shall serve as a commissioner. Any commissioner appointed to serve as a commissioner for the purposes of meeting the requirement of having a person who is directly assisted by the housing authority shall forfeit such appointment if that person:\n(1) Ceases to meet the requirements of housing commissioners pursuant to section 99.050; or\n(2) Ceases receiving direct assistance from the housing authority for which he or she is a commissioner.\n2. The provisions of this section shall not apply to those housing authorities:\n(1) Located within a city not within a county;\n(2) Located within a city with a population of over four hundred thousand inhabitants;\n(3) Which are exempted, pursuant to federal law or regulation, from any federal requirement stating that at least one person who receives direct assistance from the housing authority shall serve as a commissioner.","path":["Title VII - CITIES, TOWNS AND VILLAGES","Chapter 99 - Municipal Housing"],"source_url":"https://revisor.mo.gov/main/OneSection.aspx?section=99.053","current_through":"2026 legislative session (floor)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T22:23:25Z","sha256":"38236f661e732d820b70019e1a8ce2f4863046f3fb0cf63cbf863e9db2ceabe1","source_id":"us-mo","stale":false,"prev":"us-mo/mo.-rev.-stat.-99.052","next":"us-mo/mo.-rev.-stat.-99.055"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
