Code Ann. § 17-17-431","body":"A person selling lead acid batteries at retail or offering lead acid batteries for retail sale in the state shall:\n\n(a) Accept from customers, at the point of transfer, used lead acid batteries in a quantity at least equal to the number of new batteries purchased, if offered by customers; and\n\n(b) Post written notice which must be at least eight and one-half inches (8- 1 / 2 ″) by eleven inches (11″) in size and must contain the universal recycling symbol and the following language:\n\n(i) “IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISCARD A MOTOR VEHICLE BATTERY OR OTHER LEAD ACID BATTERY”;\n\n(ii) “RECYCLE YOUR USED BATTERIES”; and\n\n(iii) “STATE LAW REQUIRES U.S. TO ACCEPT USED MOTOR VEHICLE BATTERIES OR OTHER LEAD ACID BATTERIES FOR RECYCLING IN EXCHANGE FOR NEW BATTERIES PURCHASED.”","path":["MS Code","Title 17"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"b7a780c04f1b29dfcef8cb66632c2fc307a2c3523bf1f98ad6135924a2803f0e","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-17-17-43","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-17-17-433"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
