Code Ann. § 25-53-109","body":"The bureau is hereby authorized and empowered to exercise such duties and powers necessary to effectuate the purposes of Sections 25-53-101 through 25-53-125 including the following:\n\n(a) Form an advisory council made up of persons with expertise, and experience in the field of telecommunications for the purpose of setting goals, establishing long-range plans and policies and to oversee and assist in the procurement activities regarding telecommunications equipment and services;\n\n(b) Provide more effective management of state telecommunications resources and implement long-range plans and procurement;\n\n(c) Manage, plan and coordinate all telecommunications systems under the jurisdiction of the state. This centralized management function would be provided throughout the following activities:\n\n(i) Administration of existing systems including coordination of activities, vendors, service orders and billing/record-keeping functions;\n\n(ii) Planning of new systems or services;\n\n(iii) Design of replacement systems;\n\n(iv) Project management during specification writing, bid letting, proposal evaluation and contract negotiations;\n\n(v) Implementation supervision of new systems and ongoing support;\n\n(vi) Implementation of long-term state plans; and\n\n(vii) Management of intra-LATA and inter-LATA networks.","path":["MS Code","Title 25"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"345603a0a503d5b156795c07c35e21fac0d9043ed9a0d00ebc420b1709412ae1","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-25-53-107","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-25-53-11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
