Code Ann. § 31-3-16","body":"All commercial contractors, in order to obtain a building permit in the State of Mississippi, shall possess a permit from the Department of Revenue issued under Section 27-65-27 .\n\nNotwithstanding the definition of “contractor” in Section 31-3-1 , for purposes of this section, a commercial contractor is a person or entity contracting or offering to contract with an owner or possessor of commercial real estate to construct a building thereon, or to repair or renovate any portion of a building thereon, regardless of the cost of the project, and regardless of whether all or part of the cost is expected to be paid as a benefit of a property and casualty insurance policy.\n\nThis section shall not apply to a commercial contractor having a permanent place of business in the State of Mississippi or licensed under this chapter.","path":["MS Code","Title 31"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"8b63801912035ed5125f321ee34cf8479cc67cc3ce43f9227c60aafc44e420fb","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-31-3-15","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-31-3-17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
