Code Ann. § 37-13-207","body":"(1) The State Department of Education is authorized and directed to implement K-12 computer science curriculum based on the 2018 Mississippi College and Career-Readiness Standards for computer science, which includes instruction in, but not limited to:\n\n(a) Computational thinking;\n\n(b) Problem solving;\n\n(c) Programming;\n\n(d) Cyber security;\n\n(e) Data science;\n\n(f) Robotics;\n\n(g) Artificial intelligence and machine learning; and\n\n(h) Other computer science and cyber-related content.\n\n(2) The State Department of Education shall work with the Center for Cyber Education at Mississippi State University to identify and develop K-12 computer science curriculum and delivery options.\n\n(3) Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year:\n\n(a) Each local school district shall provide that all middle schools in its school system offer instruction in foundations of computer science;\n\n(b) Each local school district shall provide that fifty percent (50%) of elementary schools in its school system offer a minimum of one (1) hour of instruction in computer science each week;\n\n(c) Each charter school that serves middle or high school students shall offer a course in computer science; and\n\n(d) Each charter school that serves elementary school students shall offer instruction in computer science.\n\n(4) Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year:\n\n(a) Each local school district shall provide that at least fifty percent (50%) of the high schools in its school system offer a course in computer science;\n\n(b) Each local school district shall provide that all elementary schools in its school system offer a minimum of one (1) hour of instruction in exploratory computer science each week.\n\n(5) Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, each local school district shall provide that all schools in its school system offer instruction in computer science.","path":["MS Code","Title 37"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"95599347b0e2fb9eb4e63e54d486a0c6823b31a99cecb81fb843458cb053d7b1","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-37-13-205","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-37-13-209"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
