Code Ann. § 37-23-177","body":"The board shall have the following powers, duties and responsibilities:\n\n(a) To promulgate and enforce rules, regulations and guidelines to implement the provisions of Sections 37-23-171 through 37-23-181 ;\n\n(b) To provide technical assistance to local school district personnel in the development, implementation, evaluation and modification of gifted education programs for gifted children;\n\n(c) To review and approve or deny all local school district gifted education programs, or changes therein, submitted pursuant to Sections 37-23-171 through 37-23-181 ;\n\n(d) To accept and distribute federal funds or funds made available from other sources;\n\n(e) To develop certification requirements for all teaching or nonteaching personnel employed in gifted education programs;\n\n(f) To develop staff development programs for personnel employed in gifted education programs;\n\n(g) To collect such data from all local school districts as may be required to implement Sections 37-23-171 through 37-23-181 ;\n\n(h) To disseminate information on quality gifted education programs; and\n\n(i) To withhold funds from any school district which refuses or fails to comply with the provisions of Sections 37-23-171 through 37-23-181 .","path":["MS Code","Title 37"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"c19bdcd234fad0074104af6f25fea6e251af324957bae17e694abb85b58ef542","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-37-23-175","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-37-23-179"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
