Code Ann. § 39-19-7","body":"(1) As of March 26, 1997, the lender, or any successor of the lender, regardless of the date of a loan of property in the custody of a museum, shall promptly notify the museum in writing:\n\n(a) Of a change in the lender's address; and\n\n(b) Of a change in ownership in the property on loan to the museum.\n\n(2) It shall be the responsibility of a successor of a lender to document the passage of rights of control to the property in the custody of the museum.\n\n(a) Unless there is evidence of bad faith or gross negligence, a museum shall not be prejudiced by reason of any failure to deal with the true owner of any loaned property.\n\n(b) In cases of disputed ownership of loaned property, a museum shall not be held liable for its refusal to surrender loaned property in its possession except in reliance upon a court order or judgment.","path":["MS Code","Title 39"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"eb803cf3bcad85fbd3efc0defea49b2c0002f53f250cb76cd575485b697dc2a6","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-39-19-5","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-39-19-9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
