Code Ann. § 41-29-5","body":"The term “dangerous caustic or corrosive substance” means each and all of the acids, alkalis, and substances named below:\n\n(a) Hydrochloric acid and any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized hydrochloric acid (HCl) in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(b) Sulphuric acids and any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized sulphuric acid (H 2SO4 ) in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(c) Nitric acid or any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized nitric acid (HNO 3 ) in a concentration of five percent (5%) or more;\n\n(d) Carbolic acid (C 6 H 5 OH), otherwise known as phenol, and any preparation containing carbolic acid in a concentration of five percent (5%) or more;\n\n(e) Oxalic acid and any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized oxalic acid (H 2 C 2 O 4 ) in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(f) Any salt of oxalic acid, other than cerium oxalate, and any preparation containing any such salt in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(g) Acetic acid or any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized acetic acid (HC 2 H 3 O 2 ) in a concentration of twenty percent (20%) or more;\n\n(h) Hypochlorous acid, either free or combined, and any preparation containing the same in a concentration so as to yield ten percent (10%) or more by weight of available chlorine, excluding calx chlorinata, bleaching powder, and chloride of lime;\n\n(i) Potassium hydroxide and any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized potassium hydroxide (KOH), including caustic potash and Vienna paste, in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(j) Sodium hydroxide and any preparation containing free or chemically unneutralized sodium hydroxide (NaOH), including caustic soda and lye, in a concentration of ten percent (10%) or more;\n\n(k) Silver nitrate, sometimes known as lunar caustic, and any preparation containing silver nitrate (AgNO 3 ) in a concentration of five percent (5%) or more, and\n\n(l) Ammonia water and any preparation yielding free or chemically uncombined ammonia (NH 3 ), including ammonium hydroxide and “hartshorn” in a concentration of five percent (5%) or more.\n\nHowever, the provisions of this article shall not apply to “white arsenic and sal soda.”","path":["MS Code","Title 41"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"11606906fd2dc7cd158264e3192e90feb79a41102503292a58f96d4c7e26e266","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-41-29-323","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-41-29-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
