Code Ann. § 41-41-133","body":"As used in Sections 41-41-131 through 41-41-145 :\n\n(a) “ Abortion ” means the use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug or any other substance or device to terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be pregnant with an intention other than to increase the probability of a live birth, to preserve the life or health of the child after live birth or to remove a dead fetus.\n\n(b) “ Gestational age ” means the time that has elapsed since the first day of the woman's last menstrual period as determined using methods consistent with standard medical practice in the community.\n\n(c) “ Severe fetal abnormality ” means a life-threatening physical condition that, in reasonable medical judgment, regardless of the provision of life-saving medical treatment, is incompatible with life outside the womb.\n\n(d) “ Major bodily function ” includes, but is not limited to, functions of the immune system, normal cell growth, and digestive, bowel, bladder, neurological, brain, respiratory, circulatory, endocrine and reproductive functions.","path":["MS Code","Title 41"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"12b5a9561dab6ef7208cd76e753b5afc297fa70a698f635349b46aaadd34f276","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-41-41-131","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-41-41-135"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
