Code Ann. § 47-5-1505","body":"(a) “ Restraints ” means any physical or mechanical device used to restrict or control the movement of a prisoner's body, limbs, or both.\n\n(b) “ Body cavity searches ” means invasive searches on inmates, conducted by facility employees in search of contraband.\n\n(c) “ Flight risk ” means an inmate who has shown the desire to escape the facility.\n\n(d) “ Restrictive housing ” means any type of detention that involves:\n\n(i) Removal from the general inmate population, whether voluntary or involuntary; and\n\n(ii) Inability to leave a room or cell for the vast majority of the day.\n\n(e) “ Postpartum recovery ” means the eight-week period, or longer as determined by the healthcare professional responsible for the health and safety of the prisoner.\n\n(f) “ Menstrual hygiene products ” means products that women use during their menstrual cycle. This includes tampons, sanitary napkins and menstrual cups.\n\n(g) “ Indigent ” means an inmate who has less than an average of Sixteen Dollars ($16.00) in her prison account.\n\n(h) “ Correctional facility employee ” refers to anyone who is employed by the facility or the Department of Corrections.\n\n(i) “ State of undress ” refers to a state where a female is partially or fully naked, either in the shower, toilet areas, a medical examination room or having a body cavity search conducted.","path":["MS Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"bd166c0684bf8fa9c81354a4839f0148e9fb55659acec8f28b791014251b9159","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-47-5-1503","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-47-5-1507"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
