Code Ann. § 5-1-23","body":"If any witness neglects or refuses to obey a subpoena, or, appearing, refuses to testify, the senate or house may, by a resolution entered on its journal, commit him for contempt, the commitment not to extend beyond the final adjournment of the session; and any witness neglecting and refusing to attend in obedience to a subpoena may be arrested by the sergeant-at-arms and brought before the senate or house; and a copy of the resolution of the senate or house, signed by the presiding officer thereof, and attested by the secretary or clerk, shall be sufficient authority to authorize such arrest.","path":["MS Code","Title 5"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"f831eeeba3a3b1563de12920a810ddc8623d8085dac492212117cb2c6b94f880","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-5-1-21","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-5-1-25"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
