Code Ann. § 65-17-201","body":"The boards of supervisors of the several counties of the State of Mississippi are authorized and empowered at their discretion to employ, as county engineer, a civil engineer or person qualified to perform the duties of a county engineer, and such assistant engineers as may be necessary. On all projects for the construction or reconstruction of a bridge which will cost more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or for the construction or reconstruction of roads which will cost more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) per mile, the employment of an engineer qualified under the chapter on engineers shall be obligatory, whether the work is being done by the county or by a separate district, and whether the work is to be done by contract or otherwise; however, in obligatory cases the employment may be for the particular work, rather than for a term.","path":["MS Code","Title 65"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"242b1b7aa6155e90e01c0b03dc11e85ff2c7eec7e5d8683e0424c2c1d643d8c3","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-65-17-107","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-65-17-201.nr2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
