Code Ann. § 73-5-41","body":"(1) The following persons are exempt from the provisions of this chapter, wholly in the proper discharge of their professional duties, to wit:\n\n(a) Persons authorized by the law of Mississippi to practice medicine and surgery.\n\n(b) Commissioned medical or surgical officers of the United States Army, Navy or Marine hospital service.\n\n(c) Registered nurses.\n\n(d) Cosmetologists, and nothing in this chapter shall affect the jurisdiction of the State Board of Cosmetology.\n\n(e) Persons whose practice is limited to only makeup artistry, threading or applying or removing eyelash extensions.\n\n(2) The provision of this section shall not be construed to authorize any of the persons exempted to shave, trim the beard, or cut the hair of any person, or perform any other act that constitutes barbering, for cosmetic purposes, with the exception of persons licensed by the State Board of Cosmetology or persons whose practice is limited to only makeup artistry, threading or applying or removing eyelash extensions.","path":["MS Code","Title 73"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"2eef33dd6a22678c3c4d4aa1eb4d22892eb1a8a03b673708d3863ebf1ac7a5c0","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-73-5-39","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-73-5-43"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
