Code Ann. § 75-24-161","body":"A rental-purchase agreement may not contain:\n\n(a) A confession of judgment;\n\n(b) A negotiable instrument;\n\n(c) A security interest or any other claim of a property interest in any property except that property delivered by the lessor pursuant to the rental-purchase agreement;\n\n(d) A wage assignment;\n\n(e) A waiver by the consumer of claims or defenses;\n\n(f) A provision authorizing the lessor or a person acting on the lessor's behalf to enter upon the consumer's premises without permission or to commit any breach of the peace in the repossession of property;\n\n(g) A provision for a late charge or any other type of charge or penalty for reinstating a rental-purchase agreement in addition to a reinstatement fee; however, a lessor may use the term “late charge” or a similar term to refer to a reinstatement fee; or\n\n(h) A provision for more than one (1) reinstatement fee on any one (1) periodic payment regardless of the period of time for which it remains unpaid.","path":["MS Code","Title 75"],"source_url":"https://legislature.ms.gov/","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:17Z","sha256":"79766b9a80c54628b8d09caa9c3056acb275f30288185172625fe702662928f4","source_id":"us-ms","stale":false,"prev":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-75-24-159","next":"us-ms/miss.-code-ann.-75-24-163"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
