Stat. § 116-209.89","heading":"Definitions; purpose.","body":"(a)\tDefinitions. - The following definitions apply in this Part:\n(1)\tAcademic term. - Any of the following:\na.\tOne fall semester.\nb.\tOne spring semester.\nc.\tOne summer term.\n(1a)\tEligible graduate. - A graduate of either of the following:\na.\tThe North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.\nb.\tThe University of North Carolina School of the Arts.\n(1b)\tEligible student. - A student who meets the requirements of subsection (a) of G.S. 116-209.90.\n(1c)\tProgram. - The Program established in this Part to provide tuition grants to high school graduates of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.\n(2)\tSummer term. - All instruction received in one summer between academic years.\n(b)\tPurpose. - The purpose of the Program is to provide financial assistance to eligible students who graduated from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to promote the retention of those high-performing students in this State.
