Stat. § 143-166.13","heading":"Persons entitled to benefits under Article.","body":"(a)\tThe following persons who are subject to the Criminal Justice Training and Standards Act are entitled to benefits under this Article:\n(1)\tState Government Security Officers, Department of Administration;\n(2)\tState Correctional Officers, Division of Prisons of the Department of Adult Correction;\n(3)\tState Probation and Parole Officers, Division of Community Supervision and Reentry of the Department of Adult Correction;\n(4)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Adult Correction or Division of Juvenile Justice of the Department of Public Safety;\n(5)\tSworn Law Enforcement Officers in the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Department of Justice;\n(6)\tState Highway Patrol Officers;\n(7)\tGeneral Assembly Special Police, General Assembly;\n(8)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Health and Human Services;\n(9)\tJuvenile Justice Officers, Division of Juvenile Justice of the Department of Public Safety;\n(10)\tInsurance Investigators, Department of Insurance;\n(11)\tState Bureau of Investigation Officers and Alcohol Law Enforcement Agents, Department of Public Safety;\n(12)\tDirector and Assistant Director, License and Theft Enforcement Section, State Highway Patrol;\n(13)\tMembers of License and Theft Enforcement Section, State Highway Patrol, designated by the Commander of the State Highway Patrol as either \"inspectors\" or uniformed weigh station personnel;\n(14)\tRepealed by Session Laws 2021-23, s. 21, effective May 17, 2021.\n(15)\tNorth Carolina Ports Authority Police, Department of Transportation;\n(16)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Environmental Quality;\n(17)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Public Safety.\n(18)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Revenue.\n(19)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, University System.\n(20)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.\n(21)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers with the power of arrest, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.\n(22)\tSworn State Law-Enforcement Officers of the State Capitol Police in the State Highway Patrol.\n(b)\tThe following persons are entitled to benefits under this Article regardless of whether they are subject to the Criminal Justice Training and Standards Act:\n(1)\tDriver License Examiners injured by accident arising out of and in the course of giving a road test, Division of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation;\n(2)\tEmployees of the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice of the Department of Public Safety injured by a direct and deliberate act of an offender supervised by the Division or while performing supervisory duties over offenders which place the employees at risk of such injury.\n(c)\tAs used in this Article, the term \"eligible person\" or \"person\" shall mean any individual listed under subsection (a) or (b) of this section.
