Stat. § 143-599","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"All of the following facilities shall be exempt from the provisions of this Article:\n(1)\tAny primary or secondary school or child care center, except for a teacher's lounge.\n(2)\tAn enclosed elevator.\n(3)\tPublic school bus.\n(4)\tHospital, nursing home, rest home, and State facility operated under the authority of G.S. 122C-181.\n(5)\tLocal health department and local department of social services and the building and grounds where the local health department or local department of social services, as applicable, is located. For the purposes of this subdivision, \"grounds\" means the area located within 50 linear feet of a local health department or a local department of social services.\n(6)\tAny nonprofit organization or corporation whose primary purpose is to discourage the use of tobacco products by the general public.\n(7)\tTobacco manufacturing, processing, and administrative facilities.\n(8)\tIndoor arenas with a seating capacity greater than 23,000.\n(9)\tState correctional facilities operated by the Division of Prisons of the Department of Adult Correction.\n(10)\tCommunity colleges.\n(11)\tThe buildings, grounds, and walkways of the University of North Carolina Health Care System and of the East Carolina University School of Medicine, Health Sciences Complex, and Medical Faculty Practice Plan.
