Stat. § 15A-1451","heading":"Stay of sentence; bail; no stay when State appeals.","body":"(a)\tWhen a defendant has given notice of appeal:\n(1)\tPayment of costs is stayed.\n(2)\tPayment of a fine is stayed.\n(3)\tConfinement is stayed only when the defendant has been released pursuant to Article 26, Bail.\n(4)\tProbation or special probation is stayed.\n(b)\tThe effect of dismissal of charges is not stayed by an appeal by the State, and the defendant is free from such charges unless they are subsequently reinstated as a result of the determination upon appeal.
