Stat. § 48-3-231","heading":"Definitions.","body":"For the purposes of this Part, the following definitions apply:\n(1)\tIntercountry adoption. - An adoption or placement for adoption of a minor who resides in a foreign country at the time of adoption or placement. The term includes an adoption finalized in the minor's country of residence or in a state.\n(2)\tParent. - An individual recognized as a parent under other law of this State.\n(3)\tProspective adoptive parent. - An individual approved or permitted under other law of this State to adopt a minor.\n(4)\tRecord. - Information inscribed on a tangible medium or stored in an electronic or other medium and retrievable in perceivable form.
