Stat. § 53-244.102","heading":"Continuing education for mortgage loan originators.","body":"(a)\tA licensed mortgage loan originator shall annually complete at least eight hours of continuing education approved in accordance with subsection (b) of this section, including all of the following:\n(1)\tThree hours of federal statutes and regulations.\n(2)\tTwo hours of ethics, including instruction on fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues.\n(3)\tTwo hours of training related to lending standards for the nontraditional mortgage product marketplace.\n(4)\tOne hour of State statutes and rules.\n(b)\tContinuing education courses shall be reviewed and approved by the NMLS based upon reasonable standards.\n(c)\tRepealed by Session Laws 2025-43, s. 1, effective October 1, 2025.\n(d)\tBoth of the following apply to a licensed mortgage loan originator:\n(1)\tExcept for G.S. 53-244.070(a) and subsection (e) of this section, may receive credit for a continuing education course taken prior to the end of the reinstatement period under G.S. 53-244.101(d).\n(2)\tShall not take the same approved course in the same or successive years to meet the annual requirements for continuing education.\n(e)\tA licensed mortgage loan originator who is an approved instructor of an approved continuing education course may receive credit for the licensed mortgage loan originator's own annual continuing education requirement at the rate of two hours credit for every one hour taught.\n(f)\tA licensed mortgage loan originator who successfully completes the education requirements approved by the NMLS in subdivisions (a)(1), (a)(2), and (a)(3) of this section for any state shall be accepted as credit toward completion of continuing education requirements in North Carolina.
