Stat. § 58-33-31","heading":"Application for license.","body":"(a)\tA person applying for a resident license shall make application to the Commissioner on the Uniform Application and declare under penalty of denial, suspension, or revocation of the license that the statements made in the application are true, correct, and complete to the best of the individual's knowledge and belief. Before approving the application, the Commissioner shall find that the individual:\n(1)\tIs at least 18 years of age.\n(2)\tHas not committed any act that is a ground for probation, suspension, nonrenewal, or revocation set forth in G.S. 58-33-46.\n(3)\tHas satisfied any applicable requirements of G.S. 58-33-30(d).\n(4)\tHas paid the applicable fees set forth in G.S. 58-33-125.\n(5)\tHas successfully passed any examinations required by G.S. 58-33-30(e).\n(b)\tA business entity selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance shall obtain an insurance producer license. Application shall be made using the Uniform Business Entity Application. Before approving the application, the Commissioner shall find that:\n(1)\tThe business entity has paid the applicable fees set forth in G.S. 58-33-125.\n(2)\tThe business entity has designated a licensed producer, who is a natural person, responsible for the business entity's compliance with the insurance laws and administrative rules of this State and orders of the Commissioner.\n(c)\tThe Commissioner may require any documents reasonably necessary to verify the information contained in an application.
