Stat. § 93D-1.1","heading":"Hearing aid specialist; scope of practice.","body":"The scope of practice of a hearing aid specialist regulated pursuant to this Chapter shall include the following activities:\n(1)\tOrdering the use of, authorizing, fitting, and selling prescription hearing aids, as defined by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 21 C.F.R. § 801, without requiring a consumer to first obtain an order or authorization from another healthcare provider.\n(2)\tEliciting patient histories.\n(3)\tPerforming hearing evaluations.\n(4)\tAdministering and interpreting tests of human hearing.\n(5)\tReferring, as appropriate, for cochlear implant evaluation or other clinical, rehabilitative, or medical intervention.\n(6)\tDetermining candidacy for hearing aids, tinnitus management devices, and other assistive listening devices.\n(7)\tProviding hearing aid, tinnitus management device, and assistive device recommendations and selection.\n(8)\tPerforming hearing aid fittings, programming, and adjustments.\n(9)\tAssessing hearing aid efficacy utilizing appropriate fitting verification methodology.\n(10)\tPerforming hearing aid repairs.\n(11)\tAdministering cerumen management in the course of examining ears.\n(12)\tMaking ear impressions, and preparing, designing, and modifying ear molds.\n(13)\tProviding counseling and rehabilitation services related to hearing aids.\n(14)\tProviding supervision and in-service training for apprentices in fitting and selling hearing aids.\n(15), (16)\tRepealed by Session Laws 2014-115, s. 42.3(a), effective August 11, 2014.
