Code § 11-19.1-01","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n1.\"Autopsy\" means the inspection or dissection of a deceased human body and retention of organs, tissue, or fluids for diagnostic, educational, public health, or research purposes.\n2.\"Casualty\" means death arising from accidental or unusual means.\n3.\"City\" means a city organized under the laws of this state.\n4.\"Physician\" includes physicians and surgeons licensed under chapter 43-17.\n5.\"Reportable circumstances\" includes one or more of the following factors:\na.Obvious or suspected homicidal, suicidal, or accidental injury;\nb.Firearm injury;\nc.Severe, unexplained injury;\nd.Occupant or pedestrian motor vehicle injury;\ne.An injury to a minor;\nf.Fire, chemical, electrical, or radiation;\ng.Starvation;\nh.Unidentified or skeletonized human remains;\ni.Drowning;\nj.Suffocation, smothering, or strangulation;\nk.Poisoning or illegal drug use;\nl.Prior child abuse or neglect assessment concerns;\nm.Open child protection service case on the victim;\nn.Victim is in the custody of the department of health and human services, county social services, the department of corrections and rehabilitation or other correctional facility, or law enforcement;\no.Unexplained death or death in an undetermined manner;\np.Suspected sexual assault; or\nq.Any other suspicious factor.","path":["Title 11 Counties","Chapter 11-19.1 Medical County Coroner"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t11c19-1.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"1d388cee2ab1d869cbb86f0fcac0ea1629c2931e9f4a8a309587a57400ad6c4d","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-11-18-23","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-11-19.1-02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
