Code § 14-12.2-47.1","heading":"(701) Definitions","body":"In sections 14-12.2-47.1 through 14-12.2-47.13:\n1.\"Application\" means a request under the convention by an obligee, obligor, or on behalf of a child, made through a central authority for assistance from another central authority.\n2.\"Central authority\" means the entity designated by the United States or a foreign country described in subdivision d of subsection 5 of section 14-12.2-01 to perform the functions specified in the convention.\n3.\"Convention support order\" means a support order of a tribunal of a foreign country described in subdivision d of subsection 5 of section 14-12.2-01.\n4.\"Direct request\" means a petition filed by an individual in a tribunal of this state in a proceeding involving an obligee, obligor, or child residing outside the United States.\n5.\"Foreign central authority\" means the entity designated by a foreign country described in subdivision d of subsection 5 of section 14-12.2-01 to perform the functions specified in the convention.\n6.\"Foreign support agreement\":\na.Means an agreement for support in a record that:\n(1)Is enforceable as a support order in the country of origin;\n(2)Has been:\n(a)Formally drawn up or registered as an authentic instrument by a foreign tribunal; or\n(b)Authenticated by, or concluded, registered, or filed with a foreign tribunal; and\n(3)May be reviewed and modified by a foreign tribunal; and\nb.Includes a maintenance arrangement or authentic instrument under the convention.\n7.\"United States central authority\" means the secretary of the United States department of health and human services.","path":["Title 14 Domestic Relations And Persons","Chapter 14-12.2 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t14c12-2.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"184c5d1e34ab33590d8444a143801fda2be5f34fac216cbd417804ab93a2c6cb","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-14-12.2-47","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-14-12.2-47.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
