Code § 23-51-01","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this chapter:\n1.\"Committee\" means the maternal mortality review committee.\n2.\"Department\" means the obstetrics and gynecology department of the university of North Dakota school of medicine and health sciences.\n3.\"Health care provider\" means:\na.An individual licensed, certified, or otherwise authorized to provide health care services in the ordinary course of business in the state; or\nb.A health facility licensed by the department of health and human services.\n4.\"Maternal mortality\" means the death of a pregnant woman or a woman within one year postpartum.\n5.\"School\" means the university of North Dakota school of medicine and health sciences.\n6.\"Severe maternal morbidity\" means a condition occurring in a woman during pregnancy or within one year of the end of pregnancy which results in:\na.Admission to the intensive care unit of a health facility; or\nb.Transfusion of four or more units of blood products.","path":["Title 23 Health And Safety","Chapter 23-51 Maternal Mortality Review Committee"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t23c51.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"49674e6d3522589e6ea7cdac09dd5bd9173c93978b37fe222d3f0b678e150ce0","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-23-50-05","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-23-51-02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
