Code § 23-51-03","heading":"Powers and duties of committee","body":"1.The committee shall:\na.Identify maternal mortality cases in the state;\nb.Obtain and conduct comprehensive reviews of medical records and other relevant data using best practices for case reviews to identify factors associated with the deaths;\nc.Consult, as appropriate, with relevant experts to evaluate and interpret the records and data;\nd.Consult, as appropriate, with family members and other affected or involved persons to collect additional relevant information;\ne.Make determinations regarding the preventability of maternal deaths;\nf.Develop policy recommendations to improve health care services for women and reduce the incidence of maternal mortality in the state;\ng.Convene annually and provide committee members with the available information necessary to fully review each case; and\nh.Compile annually a state report of fatalities reviewed.\n2.The committee may review cases and trends in severe maternal morbidity.","path":["Title 23 Health And Safety","Chapter 23-51 Maternal Mortality Review Committee"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t23c51.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"c6c7e9384f0337b19cb0b14848d680afb17b5e7c512b9f06c1c04b11fbe27a3f","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-23-51-02","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-23-51-04"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
