Code § 26.1-20.1-02","heading":"License required - Renewal - Application","body":"1.No person may finance insurance premiums in this state without a license issued by the commissioner. Licenses may be renewed each year upon payment of the required fee.\n2.The commissioner shall issue or renew a license if the commissioner finds that the person to be licensed:\na.Is competent and trustworthy and intends to act in good faith in the financing of insurance premiums;\nb.Has a good business reputation and has had experience, training, or education qualifying the person to finance insurance premiums; and\nc.If a corporation, is incorporated under the laws of this state or is a foreign corporation authorized to transact business in this state or if a limited liability company, is organized under the laws of this state or is a foreign limited liability company authorized to transact business in this state.\n3.This chapter does not apply to insurance producers; insurers who finance their own premiums; banks; savings and loan associations; credit unions; annuity, safe deposit, and trust companies; subsidiary trust companies; small loan companies; licensed money brokers; or other financial institutions licensed to do business in this state.","path":["Title 26.1 Insurance","Chapter 26.1-20.1 Insurance Premium Finance Companies"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t26-1c20-1.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"7063268aaa1e6d862e9de3579149963c84595b1e7b861eba5ae0e6331feb5cde","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-26.1-20.1-01","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-26.1-20.1-03"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
