Code § 27-25-01","heading":"Definitions","body":"In this chapter, unless the context or subject matter otherwise requires:\n1.\"Candidate\" means any person under consideration by the committee to fill a judicial vacancy.\n2.\"Chairman\" means the chairman of the committee and includes any acting chairman.\n3.\"Committee\" means the judicial nominating committee, consisting of six members in the event of a vacancy in the office of supreme court judge and nine members in the event of a vacancy in the office of a district court judge.\n4.\"Judge\" means a justice of the supreme court or a judge of district court.\n5.\"Nominee\" means any candidate selected by the committee for inclusion on the list of candidates submitted to the governor.\n6.\"Permanent member\" means a person appointed to serve on the committee for all vacancies in the office of judge during that member's term.\n7.\"Temporary member\" means a person appointed to serve on the committee only for the time necessary to fill a vacancy in the office of district judge in that member's district.","path":["Title 27 Judicial Branch Of Government","Chapter 27-25 Judicial Nominating Committee"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t27c25.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"9fb16eaee6a36bfb4d9f65a79f62eb06fcdee6028cb0ee2b23e1cf30276db4ec","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-27-24-04","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-27-25-02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
