Code § 39-10-33","heading":"Pedestrian on roadway","body":"1.Where a sidewalk is provided and its use is practicable, it is unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent roadway.\n2.Where a sidewalk is not available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk only on a shoulder, as far as practicable from the edge of the roadway.\n3.Where neither a sidewalk nor a shoulder is available, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall walk as near as practicable to an outside edge of the roadway, and, if on a two-way roadway, shall walk only on the left side of the roadway.\n4.Except as otherwise provided for in this chapter, any pedestrian upon a roadway shall yield the right of way to all vehicles upon the roadway.","path":["Title 39 Motor Vehicles","Chapter 39-10 General Rules Of The Road"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t39c10.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"93e0de823aa2b2150c8aa3f7fad156b84294a8c2df7af04ec85cb162315ee741","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-39-10-32","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-39-10-33.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
