Code § 40-13-01","heading":"Qualifications of elective and appointive officers","body":"A person is not eligible to hold an elective municipal office unless that person is a qualified elector of the municipality and has been a resident of the municipality for at least nine months preceding the election. A person is not eligible to hold an appointive office unless that person is a citizen of the United States.
