Code § 43-04-31.2","heading":"Restricted barber license - Requirements","body":"1.An individual may apply for a restricted barber license if the applicant:\na.Has not been disciplined relating to the practice of barbering in the previous five years;\nb.Passes a written examination of the laws and rules governing practice in the state, as established by the board; and\nc.Has a background in barbering as demonstrated by:\n(1)Successfully completing a restricted barber course, as established by the board, at a licensed barbering school or a barbering program within the public school system; or\n(2)Holding, within the previous five years, an active and valid license to practice barbering in another state or country.\n2.A licensed restricted barber shall work in a licensed host shop and may not own or operate a shop.\n3.An individual may practice barbering while awaiting results of the examination under this section, if the individual is under the supervision of a licensed barber in a licensed barbershop, subject to the following:\na.An individual who fails the examination on the individual's first attempt may continue practicing under the supervision of a licensed barber in a licensed barbershop, provided the individual applies for the next examination;\nb.The individual may continue to practice under the licensed barber until the individual receives the results of the second examination; and\nc.An individual may not continue to practice under this subsection if the individual fails to pass the examination on the second attempt.","path":["Title 43 Occupations And Professions","Chapter 43-04 Barbers"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t43c04.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"719c5c551159f41ae06320a4e1726e4060b0e982e1645bdb172019745084387d","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-43-04-31.1","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-43-04-31.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
