Code § 43-20-01.1","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this chapter and chapter 43-28, unless the context otherwise requires:\n1.\"Dental anesthesia assistant\" means an individual authorized to perform anesthesia- related duties under the supervision of a dentist established by rule and does not include individuals issued a permit by the board for the application of local anesthetic, such as block or infiltration anesthesia.\n2.\"Dental assistant\" means an individual who provides dental assistance under the supervision of a dentist and within the scope of practice established by rule and section 43-20-13.\n3.\"Dental hygienist\" means an individual licensed to practice dental hygiene.\n4.\"Qualified dental assistant\" means an individual registered as a qualified dental assistant to provide dental assistance as established by rule.\n5.\"Qualified dental assistant limited radiology registrant\" means an individual registered with the board as a qualified dental assistant limited radiology registrant who may carry out dental assisting duties, including taking radiographs, under the supervision of a dentist as established by rule.\n6.\"Registered dental assistant\" means an individual registered as a registered dental assistant to provide dental assistance as established by rule.","path":["Title 43 Occupations And Professions","Chapter 43-20 Dental Hygienists And Assistants"],"source_url":"https://ndlegis.gov/cencode/t43c20.pdf","current_through":"2026-07-31T11:12:02","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T21:04:14Z","sha256":"f3085dd24343f90f975070a33916e8ecaa96435ac64b964cf9fd81210b76afd0","source_id":"us-nd","stale":true,"prev":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-43-20-01","next":"us-nd/n.d.-cent.-code-43-20-01.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
