Stat. § 24-301","body":"No person shall be eligible to the office of district judge in any district unless he or she:\n\n(1) Is at least thirty years of age;\n\n(2) Is a citizen of the United States;\n\n(3) Has been engaged in the practice of law in the State of Nebraska for at least five years, which may include prior service as a judge;\n\n(4) Is currently admitted to practice before the Nebraska Supreme Court; and\n\n(5) Is, on the effective date of appointment, a resident of the district to be served, and remains a resident of such district during the period of service.\n\nThis section and sections 24-202 , 24-505.01 , 43-2,118 , 48-153 , and 48-153.01 shall not apply to a person serving as a district judge on August 24, 1979, who continues to serve as a district judge after such effective date.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 24"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=24-301","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"a7d20c83c7e430c3022817879cd6f45c2eccbfb469c0d5df15b12b58498d9b7b","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-24-232","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-24-301.01"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
