Stat. § 25-2402","body":"For the purposes of sections 25-2401 to 25-2407 unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n(1) Deaf or hard of hearing person means a person whose hearing impairment, with or without amplification, is so severe that he or she may have difficulty in auditorily processing spoken language without the use of an interpreter or a person with a fluctuating or permanent hearing loss which may adversely affect the ability to understand spoken language without the use of an interpreter or other auxiliary aid;\n\n(2) Person unable to communicate the English language means a person who cannot readily understand or communicate the English language; and\n\n(3) Proceeding means any legal proceeding or any hearing preliminary thereto involving persons unable to communicate the English language or deaf or hard of hearing persons unable to communicate by a spoken language.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 25"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=25-2402","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"cec6cc8dcb15c27e4e55b50e4cdb2d994452d103451a6f935cb9fc998af060b8","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-25-2401","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-25-2403"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
