Stat. § 42-748.01","body":"For purposes of sections 42-748.01 to 42-748.13 :\n\n(1) Application means a request under the Convention by an obligee or obligor, or on behalf of a child, made through a central authority for assistance from another central authority.\n\n(2) Central authority means the entity designated by the United States or a foreign country described in subdivision (5)(D) of section 42-702 to perform the functions specified in the Convention.\n\n(3) Convention support order means a support order of a tribunal of a foreign country described in subdivision (5)(D) of section 42-702 .\n\n(4) Direct request means a petition filed by an individual in a tribunal of this state in a proceeding involving an obligee, an obligor, or a child residing outside the United States.\n\n(5) Foreign central authority means the entity designated by a foreign country described in subdivision (5)(D) of section 42-702 to perform the functions specified in the Convention.\n\n(6) Foreign support agreement:\n\n(A) means an agreement for support in a record that:\n\n(i) is enforceable as a support order in the country of origin;\n\n(ii) has been:\n\n(I) formally drawn up or registered as an authentic instrument by a foreign tribunal; or\n\n(II) authenticated by, or concluded, registered, or filed with a foreign tribunal; and\n\n(iii) may be reviewed and modified by a foreign tribunal; and\n\n(B) includes a maintenance arrangement or authentic instrument under the Convention.\n\n(7) United States central authority means the Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 42"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=42-748.01","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"b5d6c98fe82667bd519dda1b54c93b4b5519b278c36ff5231015b3107f7da0eb","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-42-747.04","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-42-748.02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
