Stat. § 43-1262","body":"(a) In a case arising under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act or involving the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, a county attorney or the Attorney General may take any lawful action, including resort to a proceeding under sections 43-1248 to 43-1264 or any other available civil proceeding, to locate a child, obtain the return of a child, or enforce a child custody determination if there is:\n\n(1) an existing child custody determination;\n\n(2) a request to do so from a court in a pending child custody proceeding;\n\n(3) a reasonable belief that a criminal statute has been violated; or\n\n(4) a reasonable belief that the child has been wrongfully removed or retained in violation of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.\n\n(b) A county attorney or the Attorney General acting under this section acts on behalf of the court and may not represent any party.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 43"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=43-1262","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"34da34af573addfab97cfbe032e5e661cecd1cc66f0457b93611c977a4ae572f","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-43-1261","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-43-1263"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
