Stat. § 68-1521","body":"For purposes of sections 68-1520 to 68-1528 :\n\n(1) Caregiver means an individual providing ongoing care for an individual unable to care for himself or herself;\n\n(2) Community lifespan respite services program means a noncategorical respite services program that:\n\n(a) Is operated by a community-based private nonprofit or for-profit agency or a public agency that provides respite services;\n\n(b) Receives funding through the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Services Program established under section 68-1522 ;\n\n(c) Serves an area in one or more of the six regional services areas of the department;\n\n(d) Acts as a single local source for respite services information and referral; and\n\n(e) Facilitates access to local respite services;\n\n(3) Department means the Department of Health and Human Services;\n\n(4) Noncategorical care means care without regard to the age, type of special needs, or other status of the individual receiving care;\n\n(5) Provider means an individual or agency selected by a family or caregiver to provide respite services to an individual with special needs;\n\n(6) Respite care means the provision of short-term relief to primary caregivers from the demands of ongoing care for an individual with special needs; and\n\n(7) Respite services includes:\n\n(a) Recruiting and screening of paid and unpaid respite care providers;\n\n(b) Identifying local training resources and organizing training opportunities for respite care providers;\n\n(c) Matching of families and caregivers with providers and other types of respite care;\n\n(d) Linking families and caregivers with payment resources;\n\n(e) Identifying, coordinating, and developing community resources for respite services;\n\n(f) Quality assurance and evaluation; and\n\n(g) Assisting families and caregivers to identify respite care needs and resources.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 68"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=68-1521","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"b83a450ab22d09994b7fbd808d338707a8ff30f56986e60b5804339916d72129","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-68-1520","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-68-1522"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
