Stat. § 71-203","heading":"Barbering; exemptions.","body":"The following persons are exempt from the Barber Act while in the proper discharge of their professional or occupational duties: (1) Persons authorized by the laws of this state to practice medicine and surgery; (2) commissioned medical or surgical officers of the United States military services; (3) registered or licensed practical nurses; and (4) persons engaged in operating or employed in cosmetology establishments, except that nothing contained in this section shall authorize a cosmetologist to perform barbering as defined in section 71-202 in any licensed barber shop.","path":["Chapter 71 - PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=71-203","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-10-18T06:03:47Z","sha256":"61431930c6db648bbccdd911960538d7c41f6494433bbfafae5a3163ec250249","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-71-202.01","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-71-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
