Stat. § 71-2096","body":"(1) Any person who prevents or interferes with or attempts to impede in any way any duly authorized representative of the department in the lawful enforcement of sections 71-2084 to 71-2096 shall be guilty of a Class IV misdemeanor. For purposes of this subsection, lawful enforcement includes, but is not limited to, (a) contacting or interviewing any resident or patient of a health care facility in private at any reasonable hour and without advance notice, (b) examining any relevant books or records of a health care facility, or (c) preserving evidence of any violations of sections 71-2084 to 71-2096 .\n\n(2) The county attorney of the county in which the health care facility is located or the Attorney General may be requested by the department to initiate prosecution.","path":["NE Code","Chapter 71"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=71-2096","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:21Z","sha256":"ade1341b30203dae170dd7fa78c2811f82d92a6115d0f8a56d47a1efdf0e010f","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-71-2095","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-71-2097"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
