Stat. § 77-27,234","heading":"Limitations on requirements and liabilities of financial institution.","body":"(1) A financial institution is not required to:\n(a) Designate an account as a first-time home buyer savings account, or designate the qualified beneficiaries of an account, in the financial institution's account contracts or systems or in any other way;\n(b) Track the use of money withdrawn from a first-time home buyer savings account; or\n(c) Report any information to the department or any other governmental agency that is not otherwise required by law.\n(2) A financial institution is not responsible or liable for:\n(a) Determining or ensuring that an account holder is eligible for a subtraction under subsection (27) of section 77-2716;\n(b) Determining or ensuring that money in the account is used for an eligible expense; or\n(c) Reporting or remitting taxes or penalties related to the use of money in a first-time home buyer savings account.\n(3) In implementing the First-Time Home Buyer Savings Account Act, the department shall not establish any administrative, reporting, or other requirements on financial institutions that are outside the scope of normal account procedures.","path":["Chapter 77 - REVENUE AND TAXATION"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=77-27,234","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"ce54433f7069bf8c94e44a89f1d7fab9ae0b4cb7cc41c901dd60d51b6738935c","source_id":"us-ne","stale":true,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-77-27-233","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-77-27-234.01"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
