Stat. § 81-1847","heading":"Victim and witness assistance centers; services provided.","body":"Services provided by the centers shall include, but not be limited to:\n(1) Providing assistance to victims in preparing claims for submission to the Crime Victim's Reparations Committee;\n(2) Establishing a means for volunteers to work with criminal justice agencies to promote greater sensitivity to the needs of victims and witnesses;\n(3) Providing followup support services to victims of violent crime and their families to insure that they receive necessary assistance through available community resources;\n(4) Providing elderly victims of crime with services appropriate to their special needs;\n(5) Providing liaison and referral systems to special counseling facilities and community service agencies for victims;\n(6) Providing transportation and household assistance to those victims and witnesses participating in the criminal justice process;\n(7) Notifying friends, relatives, and the employer of a victim, if requested;\n(8) Arranging for verification of medical benefits and assistance when applying for compensation from the Crime Victim's Reparations Committee;\n(9) Notifying witnesses prior to their being subpoenaed in criminal cases; and\n(10) Notifying witnesses of changes in the court calendar to avoid unnecessary trips to the court or spending unnecessary time in court.","path":["Chapter 81 - STATE ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=81-1847","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"714eee44ae863ae3c5554fdb8149ce7e4543dddf3a15607352a3fc1b0aab1c30","source_id":"us-ne","stale":false,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-81-1846","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-81-1848"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
