Stat. § 81-409","heading":"Interns; grants; terms, defined.","body":"For purposes of sections 81-409 to 81-411:\n(1) Department means the Department of Labor;\n(2) Internship means employment of a student in a professional or technical position for a limited period of time, by a business in Nebraska, in which the student:\n(a) Gains valuable applied work experiences;\n(b) Increases knowledge and develops connections that assist with career decisionmaking;\n(c) Has the opportunity to match with an employer seeking talent to evaluate, develop, and retain; or\n(d) Receives credited or certified training for skilled positions that will help resolve skilled workforce shortages and create talent pipelines for Nebraska industries; and\n(3) Student means any person who:\n(a) Is in eleventh or twelfth grade in a public or private high school or a school which elects pursuant to section 79-1601 not to meet accreditation or approval requirements in Nebraska;\n(b) Is enrolled in a college, a university, a certified training institution, or some other institution of higher education; or\n(c) Applies for an internship within twelve months following graduation from a public or private secondary school, a school that elects pursuant to section 79-1601 not to meet accreditation or approval requirements in Nebraska, or a college, a university, a certified training institution, or some other institution of higher education.","path":["Chapter 81 - STATE ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTS"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=81-409","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"d426d9660c58303693b0924069e1aaaa5c93ecfbf6450ed31eb37a065f19ecd7","source_id":"us-ne","stale":true,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-81-408","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-81-410"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
