Stat. § 85-2902","heading":"Terms, defined.","body":"For purposes of the Veteran Promise Act:\n(1) Eligible military student means a student who:\n(a) Graduated from a Nebraska high school on or after January 1, 2022;\n(b) Signed enlistment papers to serve in a uniformed service; and\n(c)(i) At the time of application is serving in such uniformed service under a six-year obligation; or\n(ii) Has served at least two years of active duty in such uniformed service and at the time of application is serving in such uniformed service or another uniformed service;\n(2) Eligible veteran student means a student who:\n(a)(i) Graduated from a Nebraska high school on or after January 1, 2002; or\n(ii) Graduated from a high school in another state on or after January 1, 2002, and served in a uniformed service while assigned to a location in this state;\n(b) Signed enlistment papers to serve in a uniformed service; and\n(c) Received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions from a uniformed service; and\n(3) Uniformed service means an active or reserve component of:\n(a) The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, or Space Force of the United States;\n(b) The Commissioned Officer Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or of the Public Health Service of the United States; or\n(c) The Nebraska National Guard.","path":["Chapter 85 - STATE UNIVERSITY, STATE COLLEGES, AND POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=85-2902","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"4a48a59a687add06871c63e095313aceb91a4ca9b0092e8d891c6b698ef1beea","source_id":"us-ne","stale":true,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-85-2901","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-85-2903"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
