Stat. § 86-205","heading":"Change in service; requirements.","body":"(1)(a) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, no telecommunications company shall submit on behalf of a subscriber a change of the subscriber's provider of basic local exchange service, intra-LATA interexchange service, or inter-LATA interexchange service without:\n(i) Written change authorization from the subscriber;\n(ii) Toll-free electronic authorization placed from the telephone number which is the subject of the change of service order; or\n(iii) Oral authorization obtained by an independent third party.\n(b) A separate and distinct authorization shall be required to submit a change of service order for any or all of the following telecommunications services provided to subscribers in this state: Basic local exchange service, intra-LATA interexchange service, inter-LATA interexchange service, or any other telecommunications service.\n(2) The requirements of this section shall not apply to a change of a subscriber's provider of basic local exchange service, intra-LATA interexchange service, or inter-LATA interexchange service that results from any merger or sale of exchanges or transfer of authority approved by the commission.","path":["Chapter 86 - TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=86-205","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"93437de4eb06ea3b717785f5b5fa52cf69f266034385ceeb6367a86e998dd30a","source_id":"us-ne","stale":true,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-86-204","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-86-206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
