Stat. § 86-299","heading":"Pen register; trap-and-trace device; application for order.","body":"(1) An investigative or law enforcement officer may make application for an order or an extension of an order under section 86-2,100 authorizing or approving the installation and use of a pen register or a trap-and-trace device under sections 86-298 to 86-2,101 to a county or district court. Such application shall be in writing and shall be under oath or affirmation.\n(2) An application under subsection (1) of this section shall include:\n(a) The identity of the investigative or law enforcement officer making the application and the identity of the law enforcement agency conducting the investigation; and\n(b) A certification by the applicant that the information likely to be obtained is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by that agency.","path":["Chapter 86 - TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY"],"source_url":"https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=86-299","current_through":"Laws 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T21:01:11Z","sha256":"d1d57467df3b8a4e850aa5ed4f18e8f4396e6379be8b41f174887919db8f2cee","source_id":"us-ne","stale":true,"prev":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-86-298","next":"us-ne/neb.-rev.-stat.-86-2-100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
