{"data":{"id":"us-nh/rsa-326-i-2","jurisdiction":"us-nh","citation":"RSA 326-I:2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"In this chapter:\nI. \"Board\" means the board of licensure of interpreters for the deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing.\nII. \"Deaf\" person means a person whose primary communication is visual.\nIII. \"Deafblind\" person means a person who has a combination of hearing loss and vision loss. A person who uses a combination of visual and/or tactile communication.\nIV. \"Hard-of-hearing\" person means a person who has a hearing loss, who may or may not primarily use visual communication, and who may or may not use assistive devices.\nV. \"Intermediary interpreting\" means interpreting services rendered by a deaf person between another deaf or deafblind person and another licensed interpreter or between 2 or more deaf or deaf blind persons.\nVI. \"Interpreter\" means a person who conveys meaning between people who use signed language and spoken language.\nVII. \"Interpreting\" means the act of conveying meaning between people who use signed and/or spoken languages.\nVIII. \"Interpreting organization\" means an organization whose function is to provide qualified interpreter services for a fee and who access interpreters licensed under this chapter.\nIX. \"Oral deaf\" person means a person whose primary communication is speech reading and spoken English.\nX. \"Qualified interpreter\" means an interpreter meeting the requirements of this chapter.","path":["Title XXX: OCCUPATIONS AND PROFESSIONS","Chapter 326-I: INTERPRETERS FOR THE DEAF, DEAFBLIND, AND HARD OF HEARING"],"source_url":"https://gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/XXX/326-I/326-I-2.htm","current_through":"2025 regular legislative session, or December 2025","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:05:51Z","sha256":"183fa2a76e6dd6169ec41b949bf9bf7f44034f6665be3df272ccad1fca397cb2","source_id":"us-nh","stale":false,"prev":"us-nh/rsa-326-i-1","next":"us-nh/rsa-326-i-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
