{"data":{"id":"us-nh/rsa-659-65","jurisdiction":"us-nh","citation":"RSA 659:65","heading":"Defective Ballots.","body":"A ballot shall be regarded as defective in whole or in part and shall not be counted in whole or in part as follows:\nI. A ballot shall be regarded as defective in whole and shall not be counted in whole if either or both of the following conditions exist:\n(a) The ballot does not have printed upon it the official endorsement in accordance with RSA 656:17, unless it has been prepared in accordance with RSA 658:35.\n(b) No count of the ballot for any office received a majority vote of the election officials as provided in RSA 659:64.\nII. A ballot shall be regarded as defective in part and that part shall not be tabulated if either or both of the following conditions exist:\n(a) No count of the ballot for one or more (but less than all) offices received a majority vote of the election officials as provided in RSA 659:64, but the count of the ballot for the other offices results in no disagreement or can be agreed on by majority vote as provided in RSA 659:64.\n(b) The ballot has attached to it an adhesive slip, sticker, or paster not prepared in accordance with RSA 656:21 in the space for any office, but the rest of the ballot admits to counting as provided in subparagraph II(a).","path":["Title LXIII: ELECTIONS","Chapter 659: ELECTION PROCEDURE","Counting of Votes"],"source_url":"https://gc.nh.gov/rsa/html/LXIII/659/659-65.htm","current_through":"2025 regular legislative session, or December 2025","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:36:11Z","sha256":"0795237ac27c4218147f98e856bf8df07758e71b9ccb0dba28f18184d7211108","source_id":"us-nh","stale":false,"prev":"us-nh/rsa-659-64-a","next":"us-nh/rsa-659-66"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
