A pet insurer or insurance producer shall not market a wellness program as pet insurance.\nb.\tIf a wellness program is sold by a pet insurer or insurance producer:\n(1)\tthe purchase of the wellness program shall not be a requirement to the purchase of pet insurance;\n(2)\tthe costs of the wellness program shall be separate and identifiable from any pet insurance policy sold by a pet insurer or insurance producer;\n(3) a payment transaction for pet insurance shall be separate from a payment transaction for a wellness program;\n(4)the terms and conditions for the wellness program shall be separate from any pet insurance policy sold by a pet insurer or insurance producer;\n(5)the products or coverages available through the wellness program shall not duplicate products or coverages available through the pet insurance policy; and\n(6) the advertising of the wellness program shall not be misleading and shall be in accordance with this subsection.\nc.\tA pet insurer or insurance producer shall clearly disclose to consumers, printed in 12-point boldface type:\n(1)\tthat wellness programs are not insurance;\n(2)\tthe address and customer service telephone number of the pet insurer or insurance producer, or broker of record; and\n(3)\tthe department’s mailing address, toll-free telephone number, and website address.\nd.\tCoverages included in the pet insurance policy contract described as “wellness” benefits are insurance.\nL.2025, c.224, s.7.","path":["TITLE 17 CORPORATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS FOR FINANCE \t\t\tAND INSURANCE"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"3672d4d57cf1d3583e95986e9c24039db6d3155f2dc81e4667d22c49cd3e2d29","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-17-46d-8","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-17-46d-10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
