Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, each school district shall incorporate instruction on the responsible use of social media into the technology education curriculum for students in grades 6 through 8 as part of the district's implementation of the Core Curriculum Content Standards in Technology.\nb.\tThe instruction shall provide students with information on:\n(1)\tthe purpose and acceptable use of various social media platforms;\n(2)\tsocial media behavior that ensures cyber safety, cyber security, and cyber ethics; and\n(3)\tpotential negative consequences, including cyber bullying, of failing to use various social media platforms responsibly.\nc.\tThe Commissioner of Education shall provide school districts with sample learning activities and resources designed to promote the responsible use of social media.\nL.2013, c.257, s.1.","path":["TITLE 18A EDUCATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"560f709be5dd7fec64956646ec14fea855be854bea269b408e6fc928a13d777b","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-35-4.26","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-35-4.28"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
