Notwithstanding any law, rule or regulation to the contrary, each board of trustees of a charter school that includes grades nine through 12 shall include a minimum of one student selected by the student body to serve as a nonvoting student representative on the board.  The student body may elect or appoint the student representative to the board, in a process to be determined by the chief school administrator of a charter school and shall consider input provided by the student body.  The student representative shall serve for a one-school-year term.\nb.\tThe duties of the student representative shall include:\n(1)\tattending all board meetings, except that a student representative shall be excluded from discussions of the board involving subjects which are confidential;\n(2)\trepresenting all high school students within the charter school and presenting student proposals and concerns to the board for its consideration; and\n(3)\tkeeping high school students within the charter school informed of the business of the board by providing a monthly report to the student council concerning the activities of the board.\nL.2021, c.446, s.2.","path":["TITLE 18A EDUCATION"],"source_url":"https://pub.njleg.state.nj.us/statutes/STATUTES-TEXT.zip","current_through":"P.L.2025, c.405, and J.R.22","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T17:54:13Z","sha256":"e2a39ec4883c5a761821289d97be398af773bd1259a3ba5936051edd77996f57","source_id":"us-nj","stale":true,"prev":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-36a-11.1","next":"us-nj/n.j.-stat.-18a-36a-11.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
